PREVENTION

Our Prevention Program provides education and resources to help youth, parents, educators, and communities understand the risks associated with substance use, mental health challenges, and problem gambling. By addressing evolving issues like alcohol, vaping, prescription drug misuse, and youth mental health, we equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions.

We also facilitate the development of many community partnerships, such as the Stamford Prevention Council, to enhance resources, raise awareness, and drive meaningful change at a local level that promotes healthier, safer communities.

Prevention Focus Areas

We focus on educating communities about the risks, protective factors, and impact of:

✔ Alcohol – Addressing underage drinking, binge drinking, and alcohol dependency risks.

✔ Marijuana – Educating on the effects of THC, synthetic cannabinoids, youth brain development, and responsible use.

✔ Prescription Pills – Raising awareness about the dangers of opioid misuse and safe medication disposal.

✔ Gambling – Supporting problem gambling awareness and prevention efforts.

✔ Nicotine/Vaping (Smoking) – Providing resources on nicotine addiction and the dangers of e-cigarettes.

✔ Suicide Prevention– 988 The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in the United States
