Families
in Recovery Program
A
unique, specialized substance abuse treatment program for pregnant
and parenting women and their children
FIRP is a highly
specialized residential program for pregnant and parenting women
and their children. Our objective is to help families establish
themselves as substance-free, self-sufficient members of society
and provide a safe, sober living environment for children. Through
a holistic approach, FIRP's goal is to increase the likelihood of
breaking the cycle of substance abuse within families.
FIRP has the
capacity to house 8 women and 10 children at any given time. Women
may have up to 2 children in their care, ages 1 - 10.

|
FIRP serves
more than 40 women and nearly 70 children annually. The length of
stay is individualized to fit each client's needs. Typically, clients
spend the first four to six months in an intensive residential phase
of treatment, and conclude with 18 to 22 months of aftercare.
Especially
for Women The
three main barriers to recovery for women are lack of affordable
childcare, lack of safe, affordable housing, and lack of transportation.
FIRP assists in accessing services and meeting these needs. The
program makes it possible for mothers and their children to remain
together as a family.
It is imperative
that women work towards achieving balance between treatment and
parenting. The children receive on-site day care while the mother
receives counseling and attends groups to help her attain sobriety.
The time children spend in daycare is devoted to socialization and
age appropriate educational activities.
